All 62 personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and 162 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) under their care at the Metro Bacolod and San Carlos District Jails in Negros Occidental have been tested negative for illegal drug use.

Jail Senior Inspector Juniven Rey Umadhay, BJMP-Negros Island Region spokesperson, said the random drug testing is aimed at ensuring that the jail facilities will remain drug-free.

Aside from the random drug testing, the BJMP-NIR was also assisted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Bureau of Fire and Protection, and Philippine Coast Guard in the conduct of greyhound operation to ensure that there will be no entry of contraband inside the jail facility.

Subjected to inspections were the BJMP Metro Bacolod District Jail Male Dormitory and the San Carlos District Jail. | GB
