Sixty companies, five of them offering hundreds of job vacancies overseas, are participating in the Kalayaan Job Fair, initiated by the Department of Labor and Employment, that will start at 9 a.m. today, June 12, at the main atrium of SM City Bacolod.

The DOLE Negros Occidental said overseas vacancies include those for nurses, caregivers, midwives, restaurant and service crew for Saudi, Japan, and Croatia; constructions workers for placements to Canada, Saudi Arabia, and Japan; and barista and restaurant workers in China, among others.

The 55 local companies, meanwhile, are looking for customer service representatives, office and warehouse workers, sales persons, employees in the health and wellness sector, and drivers, among others.

Preregistration at http://bit.ly/KalayaanJobseekers is still open, as of 8:30 p.m. June 11.

All over Western Visayas, there are close to 7,000 local job opportunities, and 1,589 for overseas employment during the job fair.

TUPAD, or the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers, assistance of P157 million will also be distributed to close to 30,000 informal worker-beneficiaries during the DOLE Independence Day celebration.

The Philippine Statistics Authority Negros Occidental, meanwhile, said it will also join the event today at the mall.

“Visit our booth and get registered to the National ID, have your National ID details updated, or avail of our birth registration assistance project. Don’t forget to bring your resumes for the chance to be hired as an enumerator for one of our upcoming censuses,” the PSA NegOcc said in an advisory. | CGC
