Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island logged six ash emission events, as of May 3, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said in a report.

In an advisory, Phivolcs said the ash emissions ranged from 19 minutes to one hour and 12 minutes, with grayish plume, as high as 900 meters from the crater.

It also recorded 49 volcanic earthquakes, 11 of them volcanic tremors, which lasted from two minutes to 61 minutes.

Amid its continued restiveness, Alert Level 2 prevails over Kanlaon Volcano, the Phivolcs said, adding that entry into the four-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) and the flying of any aircraft close to the volcano are strictly prohibited. | GB
