Fifty-two of the 112 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed in strategic areas of Bacolod City are operational, with nine capable of full rotation or at 360 degrees.

These are installed at Burgos Street-Ferero, Ferero-Rizal Street, St. Paul Tower-Rizal Street, near the Bacolod Memorial Park in Alijis, Goldenfield in Araneta Street, Lopue’s East, Lacson Street-North Capitol Road, St. Francis Avenue, and at the Circumferential Road Government Center exit.

City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office executive assistant I Aaron Bais said that after deploying three technicians to check the CCTVs that are installed around the city, they found that those defective ones lack some spare parts.

Problems, such as low internet signal, inability to transmit signal because of low radio antenna, deterioration in the Network Video Recorder, and the need for proper maintenance, were also discovered. The CCTV monitoring is also affected by frequent low voltage, the city press release said.

The CDRRMO assures Bacolodnons that they will continue to troubleshoot and find ways to fix and restore the CCTVs to strengthen traffic surveillance in the city. ||
