A 50-bed hospital will soon rise in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, following a ceremonial groundbreaking held in time for the opening salvo of the city’s Golden Dinagsa Festival on Monday (Jan. 20).

To be named Cadiz City Medical Center (CCMC), the P270-million hospital will be constructed in Barangay Tinampaan.

Among the key features of CCMC include a minor operating room, emergency room, clinical laboratory, isolation room, eight-bed medical ward, isolation room, and pharmacy.

CCMC will be the second hospital in Cadiz next to the provincial government-run Cadiz District Hospital.

Construction is scheduled within 667 days from the start of the groundbreaking.

“We need to have this hospital, considering now the unprecedented growth of Cadiz. So as the city rapidly grows, our population is growing too. Therefore, having CCMC soon is the best move in order to respond to the needs of time, especially the health aspect,” Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. said.

Cadiz is the third component city in Negros Occidental to have a city-managed hospital next to its contemporaries, including the cities of San Carlos and Bago.

Cadiz, San Carlos and Bago are also the three local government units reclassified by the Department of Finance from second to first class component cities in Negros Occidental last December.

“CCM is the first ‘grand showcase’ after the reclassification of our beloved Cadiz,” Escalante said.
