About 4,000 mangrove propagules were planted during the activity organized by the Philippine Coast Guard Negros Occidental in Purok Alalahoy, Barangay Banago in Bacolod City Nov. 6.
The marine environmental protection initiative was made successful through the active participation of the coastal residents, barangay officials, PCGA, Philippine Ports Authority, Philippine National Police Maritime Group, Bureau of Fire Protection, Community Environment and Natural Resources Office, the Bacolod Tugboat Services Corporation, Rotary Club, Bacolod City Eagles Club, Kapatiran ng Kabataang Kriminolohiya Crime Buster Frasority, and the Alpha Kappa Rho, the PCG posted on its twitter account.
The mangrove planting activity is one of the sustained efforts of the PCG Station Negros Occidental to build camaraderie with its partner organizations for the protection of the province’s rich marine environment. — NND
