It’s all systems go for the 40th Negros Trade Fair (NTF), which will highlight the finest products, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage of Negros Island and Siquijor at SM Aura in Taguig City from Sept. 22 to 27.
NTF chairperson Mary Ann Feria Colmenares said Monday that preparations for the six-day event have been completed. She invited everyone to support this milestone edition, describing it as a celebration of Negros and its people.
Themed “BÚTLAK,” the Hiligaynon word for daybreak, this year’s trade fair features 178 booths representing more than 115 entrepreneurs from Negros Island and Siquijor, showcasing artisanal food, fashion, home décor, and fine art.
Colmenares said the theme reflects the 40th anniversary of the country’s longest-running provincial trade fair and the region’s continuing growth and creativity.
“To find it, Manila audiences need only look closer at the heritage behind the products, the traditions in the food, and the generational stories in the woven fabrics,” she said.
The official opening is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, with a Mass and blessing of booths to be attended by Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and other special guests.
The official program, or Arima, will follow at 3 p.m., featuring speeches from Lacson and Cabinet Secretary Benhur Abalos, representing the national government.
The event also brings together participants from at least 20 local government units and partner organizations.
Colmenares encouraged Negrenses in Metro Manila and visitors to attend and support the 40th edition of the trade fair, describing it as an opportunity to present the best of Negros to a wider audience.
“A taste of Negros in one place,” she said, emphasizing the event’s role in showcasing the region’s food, artistry, and cultural traditions. | GPB
