The Cadiz City Social Welfare and Development Office, in collaboration with the Local Council for the Protection of Children, held a culmination program Nov. 28, in line with the 32nd National Children’s Month celebration, at the Cadiz Arena.
This year’s theme, “Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines”, highlighted the city’s commitment to child protection and welfare.
Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. delivered the State of the Children’s Address, and listed the city’s efforts to safeguarding the rights and well-being of kids.
DILG cluster head, LGOO VII Evelyn Vista, meanwhile, commended the council and child advocates for their dedication.
Various competitions also highlighted the culmination day, including vocal solo, folkdance, draw and tell, and the CDWs dance contest, the city said, adding that finalists in the search for the Best Barangay Council for the Protection of Children were also awarded, with Brgy. Magsaysay, led by punong barangay Heide Zaldivia, as champion.
Inspirational messages were also delivered by Vice Mayor Lilia Decolongon, Councilor Frances Guanzon, chairperson of the sanggunian Committee on Women, Family, and Children, and Councilor Sheila Tabanao, who heads the SP Committee on Social Services.
