31 Saraviahanon couples tie the knot on Valentine’s Day

Thirty-one Saraviahanon couples wed on Valentine’s Day at the town public plaza, officiated by Mayor Marvin Malacon.

In his message to the newlyweds, Malacon underscored the indispensable role of parents in raising responsible children, who would later become productive adults and make up a loving and caring community.

Each couple received a sack of rice from Malacon, and grocery items from councilors Gilda Parcon, Edgardo Agravante Jr., and Wyndel Depasucat.

Virgilio Ramis, 55, and Ellen Gallego, 49, of Barangay Tabigue, meanwhile, were the oldest couple during the ceremony.

The Best in Wedding Attire were Gerald Articulo and Jeanny Bernil; Longest Kiss and Early Birds: Rockwill Papa and Michaela Guinabo, who arrived at the venue at 11 p.m. of Feb. 13; while Jeven Gaco and Erika Brabangco won the Pre-Nuptial Shoot Award, at Tomongtong Mangrove Eco-Trail, the local government said in a press release Feb. 17.

Couple Randy Bulong and Marivic Barbon of Barangay Alicante led in signing the marriage contract, witnessed by Malacon, Vice Mayor Eric Matulac, and councilors Parcon, Agravante Jr., Depasucat, and Gelita Parcon.

Also shown at the ceremony was a prenuptial video taken of the couples when they attended an orientation on solid waste management and had planted 1,000 mangrove seedlings at the Tomongtong Mangrove Eco-Trail, to symbolize their shared commitment to protecting the environment.

Local civil registrar Mercedes II Recla said this is the ninth mass wedding that Malacon had officiated since taking the helm of the municipal government in 2016.

This is also the 24th wedding ceremony in the municipality organized annually by the Local Civil Registrar’s Office.

Diesah Biaoco, supervising statistical specialist of the Philippine Statistics Authority-Bacolod, served as guest of honor and speaker. She expounded on this year’s theme and informed the public of the PSA activities for the Civil Registration Month.

The conduct of mass weddings is part of the PSA activities for the Philippine Statistics Month, specifically for the Civil Registration Month, celebrated every February. This year’s theme is “Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-Fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System”. ||
