31 nabbed for illegal possession of firearms

A total of 31 persons in Western Visayas were arrested for illegal possession of firearms from May 1 to 15, a report of the Police Regional Office-6 showed.

With 14 violators arrested, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office topped the campaign against loose firearms, followed by Iloilo Police Provincial Office, eight;

Capiz Police Provincial Office, five; Aklan Police Provincial Office, Iloilo City Police Office, Bacolod City Police Office, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion-6, one each.

A total of 182 assorted firearms and 23 explosives were surrendered and deposited to various police stations across the region.

PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, police regional director of Western Visayas, lauded the efforts of the concerned police units in the accounting of loose firearms as he rallied them to continue the campaign without let up. | GB
