3 most wanted persons nabbed in NIR manhunt

Three of the top 10 most wanted persons in the Negros Island Region (NIR), all facing rape charges, were arrested by police in separate manhunt operations on June 5 and 7 in Negros Oriental.

Alias Jim, ranked number one on the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region’s list of most wanted persons, was arrested on June 6 in Sitio Layawan II, Barangay Bago, Tayasan, Negros Oriental.

The 42-year-old fugitive faces four counts of rape.

According to police, the suspect allegedly sexually assaulted a minor on several occasions and threatened to kill her and her parents if she disclosed the incidents to anyone.

Police also apprehended the number three most wanted person for the crime of rape on June 5 in Barangay Kalamtukan, Bayawan City, Negros Oriental.

The fugitive, identified as alias “Ontoy,” 31, also faces rape charges and was denied bail by the court.

Another fugitive, alias Car, 19, who is facing two counts of statutory rape, was also denied bail following his arrest on June 5 in Barangay Tapon Norte, San Jose, Negros Oriental.

He ranked number seven on the PRO-NIR list of most wanted persons. | GB
