Three private entities with property at the Bacolod old dumpsite along Buri Road in Brgy. Mandalagan have submitted their final disposal plans to the Environmental Management Bureau-Negros Island Region (EMB-NIR) to clear accumulated waste from their land, a city official said.
Bacolod City administrator, Atty. Mark Steven Mayo, said the local government is currently awaiting certification from the EMB confirming the approval of the three firms’ disposal plans.
“Right now, we are just awaiting the final greenlight coming from the EMB,” Mayo said.
The companies – Ikthus, JCoa Construction, and Puer Sanctus – submitted the plans following an August request from the Bacolod Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO) to maintain a status quo on waste hauling and transfer operations in the area.
Mayo said that once the EMB-NIR issues a clearance, the city government will execute the clearing operations based on the approved guidelines.
He explained that if the approved plan dictates transporting the waste to the city landfill, the LGU will accommodate the disposal.
If the plans specify transferring the waste to a compliant private property in accordance with EMB regulations, the city will also adhere to this directive. | TMD
