3 dead in Himamaylan road mishap

Two siblings along with their friend died in a road accident along the national highway of Barangay To-oy, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday (March 4).

The incident involved a dump truck and two motorcycles, which were running in opposite directions, according to a report of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.

Initial investigation showed the dump truck was on its way to Kabankalan City when it swerved to the opposite direction and hit the two motorcycles.

The siblings were on board a Rusi motorcycle while the other motorist was driving a Euro motorcycle.

They were declared dead on arrival at the Governor Valeriano Gatuslao District Hospital, the police report said.

PLt. Col. Anthony Grande, Himamaylan City police chief, said in a radio interview the dump truck hit the two motorcycles after overtaking two other vehicles.

The identities of the victims, who were reported as residents of Barangay Tagucon, Kabankalan City, and that of the dump truck driver were withheld by the police.

The driver of the dump truck is now detained at the custodial facility of the Himamaylan City Police Station.

Meanwhile, a bicycle rider was found dead on Tuesday in a canal in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

The victim, a certain “Nonoy”, possibly fell into the canal while driving his bike and succumbed to head injuries, PCapt. Dax Santillan, Police Station 7 chief, said in a radio interview. | GB
