The 244 recruits of Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) started their six-month basic training, following their oath-taking at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City on Monday.

They include 187 males and 57 females, who form part of the region’s regular recruitment program for 2025.

With the rank of Police Officer 1, they will each receive a basic monthly salary of P29,668 aside from allowances and other non-cash benefits.

The latest recruits will undergo a rigorous six-month training under the Public Safety Basic Recruit Course.

PBrig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, PRO-NIR regional director, reminded the neophyte police officers that their oath binds them to the Constitution and to the people they are sworn to serve and protect.

Ibay stressed their solemn responsibility to uphold integrity, discipline, respect for human rights, and unwavering adherence to the rule of law as their actions will shape public trust and reflect the core values of the Philippine National Police. | GB
