Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. confirmed on Monday, Aug. 11, that about 22 Cadiz City employees tested positive for drug use during a random drug testing conducted last May.

Some of those who were tested positive were casual and job order workers, who had already been dismissed from their jobs, he added.

Meanwhile, the ambulance driver of the city government, who was arrested in a buy-bust in Bacolod City, is facing dismissal from government service, Mayor Escalante said.

The arrest of Riche Militar and his partner Evon Mae Ante in Barangay Singcang- Airport led to the recovery of about 80 grams of suspected shabu worth of P544,000.

Escalante confirmed that Militar is a regular employee of the city government for some time now.

He added that the employee will immediately be suspended, following his arrest.

After the completion of the police investigation, he will be out from the government service, the mayor said.

Escalante said Militar was able to evade the random drug testing as he was not on duty that day. | GB
