218 complete TESDA courses

The 218 recipients of various scholarship programs implemented by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Provincial Training Center-Dumaguete completed their courses recently.

Scholars of the Training for Work Scholarship Program, Tulong Trabaho Scholarship Program, and Special Training for Employment Program finished their respective courses in Carpentry NC II, Barangay Health Services NC II, Driving NC II, Masonry NC II, Tile Setting NC II, Motorcycle/Small Engine Servicing NC II, Organic Agriculture Production NC II, and Trainer’s Methodology Level 1.

Dumaguete Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo said he is pleased that the training center at the Eco-Park and MRF Compound in Barangay Candau-ay, owned by the city government, has been successfully operating since 2022 and able to produce hundreds of graduates who acquired the knowledge and skills necessary so they can gain employment and livelihood to support their families.

Pursuant to the Deed of Usufruct signed by Remollo and then Tesda director-general Isidro Lapeña in 2021, the agency was authorized to use the 10,000 square meter lot in Barangay Candau-ay for the construction of the training center for the next 25 years, the city said.

Meanwhile, the graduation ceremony April 14 was attended by supervising TESD specialist Jaminel Damolo representing Tesda 7 director Gamaliel Vicente Jr., Tesda-Negros Oriental director Joel Villagracia, PTC Dumaguete administrator Jesila Ocariza, and supervising TESD specialist Beth Aimee Tubog, among others.

Remollo also received a plaque of appreciation from Tesda for his significant and consistent support in the noble vision and mission of the agency. ||
