Senate Deputy Majority Leader JV Ejercito has vowed to help improve the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH) in Silay City, Negros Occidental and other provincial and local hospitals while pushing for increased funding for zero-balance billing and better health care coverage under the Universal Health Care (UHC) program.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Negros Island Region (DSWD NIR) has wrapped up its initial Unified Package for Livelihood, Industry, Food, and Transport Assistance (Uplift) payout for Group 2 beneficiaries, with 141,421 beneficiaries receiving P2,000 each, or P282,842,000 in total financial assistance, as of Aug. 21.
