The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council placed the damage to agricultural crops, fisheries, and livestock in 15 cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental at P115,611,542.81.

13,879 COCs filed in NegOcc

There were already 13,879 candidates in Negros Occidental in the synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections who filed their Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) Aug. 28 and 29, as per records of the Comelec provincial office.

Bacolod under state of calamity

The City of Bacolod is now under a state of calamity following massive flooding that affected 33 of its 61 barangays due to the enhanced southwest monsoon and Typhoon “Goring”.

PRO6 denies `authorized’ solicitation from reg’l chief

The Police Regional Office 6 issued a statement Tuesday, Aug. 29, that it has not authorized solicitations by any person, using the name of P/Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, regional police director of Western Visayas.
“We want to categorically deny any involvement or authorization of such solicitations by any person associated with PRO6, or even by our Regional Director himself,” said regional police spokesperson, P/Maj. Mary Grace Socorro Borio.

VMC begins milling operations

Victorias Milling Company president Linley Retirado assured its planter stakeholders that it will begin milling operations despite the fire incident which occurred Sunday evening, Aug. 28.
In a statement, VMC announced that it will begin accepting canes today, Aug. 30, as scheduled.
