`Namit Guid’ MassKara food fest pushed

Bacolod councilor is proposing that the third Sunday of October and the next three days thereafter be declared the annual “Namit Guid” MassKara food festival.

Councilor Jason Villarosa, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Tourism, said Bacolod is famously known “not only for the people’s genuine smiles and mellow voices, but also for the delicious cuisine it offers”.

Heritage advocates in Negros Oriental are highly encouraging to conduct another round of cultural mapping activities in the province in line with the goal to preserve its tangible and intangible heritage properties.
National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Commissioner for the Visayas Dr. Earl Jude Paul Cleope, who is also the vice president for academic affairs at Silliman University, emphasized that cultural mapping should be done first to produce an inventory of all culture and heritage properties and practices in the province.

Fighting infection

While trying to recover from the emotional rollercoaster that the pandemic brought us, especially the loss of a number of colleagues and friends, I had to go through another bout of pain very recently.

Two very dear friends slipped into eternity two months apart due to infection-related causes. Their passing away, along with that of many of people close to us in the past two years, reminds us of an important health concern, which is the heart of a national observance on the second week of July – the National Infection Prevention and Control Week.

Rev. Amsil P. Alubog, the beloved Pastor of La Carlota Evangelical Church for the last 41 years was laid to rest on July 3. He passed away on June 22. He would have turned 65, July 2.
