The request of Mayor Alfredo Benitez for a new chief of the Bacolod City Police Office has been granted by Camp Crame, almost a month before the retirement of its outgoing police director, P/Col. Thomas Joseph Martir, from police service.

Thousands of sugar farmers in southern Negros have reiterated their call for the government to revive the Dacongcongon sugar mill in Brgy. Tabugon, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, that was foreclosed more than a decade ago.
In a statement, retired government prosecutor Rolando Parpa said that their petition is still pending and has not been acted on by Malacañang, since January 19, 2021.

A little more than a month ago, I recommended to two visiting doctor friends from Iloilo, who are both art lovers, to take a trip to Sagay City to check out the coastal village and home of maestro Nune Alvarado. I made a quick call to Sally, his wife, to make sure the Maestro was available for our visit.

I am cuckoo about birds (pun intended). I’ve been a photography nut since I sneaked and used my mother’s old Kodak Brownie to do a selfie when I was five. I loved birds too. There was something about a creature that refused to let gravity force it to keep its feet on the ground that appealed to the innate adventurer in me.
