The provincial government of Negros Occidental will give recognition to 20 outstanding taxpayers during the celebration of the 126th Cinco de Noviembre at the Provincial Capitol Park and Lagoon in Bacolod City on Tuesday (Nov. 5).
The awardees for the individual category are Patrick Montilla, Hermino Maravilla, Vicky Lim, Francisco Manalo, Elena Corral, Gerard Baldevia, Atty. Garry Acuña, Dr. Ramon Gustilo, Mildred San Martin and Teodoro Suatengco.
For the corporate category, the awardees are Biscom, Victorias Milling Co., Tanduay Distillers Inc., Manapla Sun Power Development, Asian Alcohol Corporation, New Foundland Agri. Co. Inc., Philippine Spring Water Resources, Northern Negros Electric Cooperative, Philippine National Bank and Hesperus Agri and Development Co. et al.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer will lead the distribution of the recognition to the 20 outstanding taxpayers.
November 5, considered as the Negros Day, is a non-working holiday in Negros Occidental.
Cinco de Noviembre is a cultural and historical commemoration observed in remembrance of the local revolt that ousted Spanish rulers from power in 1898.
The Cinco de Noviembre revolution was led by the forces of Gen. Aniceto Lacson from the north and Gen. Juan Araneta from the south.
Similar commemoration activities will also be held today in the cities of Silay, Talisay and Bago. | GB
