2 TUPV alumnae topnotchers in chemical technicians’ exams

Two graduates of the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) Visayas, based in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, landed in Top 2 and Top 3 spots in the Chemical Technicians Licensure Examination, as per results released by the Professional Regulation Commission Oct. 22.

Kristine Andrada Magbanua ranked second, with a percentage rating of 91, while Gritchen Pastrana Pontino landed in third spot, with a score of 90.5 percent, the PRC said.

TUPV is also the top school, as all of its 67 examinees passed the licensure examination given by the Board of Chemistry last week.

The national passing rate is 77.83 percent, as 2,110 out of 2,711 takers passed the exams, topped by Dexter Costruas Mas from Eastern Visayas State University and Justtine James Balde Vega from Bicol University-Legazpi, both with a 91.50 percentage rating.

The PRC, meanwhile, said that 592 out of 1,088 passed the Chemists Licensure Examination (Computer-Based and Paper & Pencil), topped by Christlen Carlo Lizardo Olivares, from Ateneo de Manila University-Q.C., who scored 94.10 percent.

TUPV produced 23 new chemists, for a passing rate of 82.14 percent (23/28), also surpassing the national passing rate of 54.41 percent, the state university said in a post, adding that these “exceptional accomplishments highlight TUPV’s unwavering dedication to academic excellence and the cultivation of top-tier professionals.”

Registration for the issuance of professional identification card and certificate of registration will be done online, starting on Dec. 20, the PRC said, adding the date and venue for the oathtaking ceremony will be announced soon. | CGC
