Two suspected gunrunners were arrested by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Barangay Tongo, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental on Jan. 5.

The buy-bust led to the arrest of two suspects, alias “Ken,” 22, and alias “John,” 29, both residents of Kabankalan City.

In a report, the CIDG said it confiscated six caliber .38 revolvers, a caliber .45 pistol, and a caliber 357 revolver from the two suspects.

Both were arrested while allegedly trading and delivering the eight firearms, failing to present permit and license to own, possess, and trade the firearms.

The operating team led by  PLt. Col. Edilmar Alviar, officer-in-charge of the CIDG Regional Field Unit-Negros Island Region, were commended Maj. Gen. Robert Morico II, CIDG chief, for a job well done.

The campaign against loose firearms by the CIDG is in line with the Oplan Paglalansag Omega of the Philippine National Police to account loose firearms nationwide. | GB
