Two senior citizens were separately found dead Oct. 23 in Cauayan, Negros Occidental.
Amado Soreño, an 84-year-old widower, who was reported missing Oct. 21, was found dead floating in a river, two days after in Sitio Baslay in upland Brgy. Talacdan, Cauayan.
Maj. Lowell Garinganao, in his report to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, said initial probe showed that Soreño was crossing the Baslay River, when he was swept by strong currents Wednesday, Oct. 21, while on his way home.
On the same day, the body of 60-year-old Ferdinand Quines Sr. was also found in Purok 5 in Brgy. Caliling, Cauayan.
Quines succumbed to gunshot wounds on the left side of his face, right side of the neck and left shoulder, the Cauayan police said.
Recovered from the crime scene were two fired cartridges of 45 caliber pistol.
PNP investigation showed that the victim was on his way to his farm, when the incident took place. GPB
