Two construction workers were arrested in drug buy-bust operations in Talisay City and Ilog town in Negros Occidental Tuesday.

P/Major Jigger Gimeno, chief of the Talisay City Police Station, said Edgar Brian San Joaquin, 40, was nabbed in Block 4, Menlo Village Barangay Zone 10, Talisay, with eight heat-sealed sachets containing suspected shabu, weighing about 4 grams and worth P27,000, an improvised tooter, and marked money.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, were filed against San Joaquin, tagged by the police as a street level individual, before the Prosecutor’s Office Wednesday.

Another construction worker, identified as Rey Vargas, 20, of Purok Paglaum, Barangay Dancalan in Ilog, was arrested during a drug sting operation, also on Tuesday.

P/Captain Marc Joeil Reclamado, officer-in-charge of the Ilog police, said the suspect, also an SLI, was only a drug user before but was monitored to be also selling shabu now.

Recovered from him were four small and medium heat sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, weighing 0.74 gram and worth P5,000, a cellphone, a sling bag, and P500 in marked money.

Vargas is detained at the custodial facility of the Ilog police and will be charged for violating RA 9165. – MML
