The Bacolod City government said that 3,430 families, whose houses were destroyed during Typhoon Tino, and 14,823 others with damaged homes, will start receiving emergency cash transfer (ECT) assistance, totaling P114,999,437, from the national government on Saturday, Dec. 13.
The ECT assistance for destroyed houses will be P10,325 each household, and P5,369 for those with damaged houses.
The first batch of beneficiaries will be from barangays 1-41, and Alangilan to Felisa, while recipients from remaining barangays would get their assistance in January 2026, the city said.
The payouts will be at the Bacolod City College and the Bacolod City National High School gym, both in Barangay Taculing, and at Barangay Villamonte gym, the Department of Social Services and Development said.
The ECT program serves as a post-disaster intervention that provides unconditional cash assistance to affected families to support their immediate needs, the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Negros Island Region said in a press release Dec. 10.
“It bridges disaster relief and early recovery by empowering households to decide on their priorities using available local resources, contributing to the early restoration of the communities,” it added.
The city’s Emergency Operations Center earlier said that 266 houses were destroyed and 2,028 damaged in the aftermath of Tino that pummeled Bacolod and nearby areas Nov. 4. ||
