A total of 173 public school teachers, who are scholarship grantees of the provincial government of Negros Occidental’s Project Flagship to Reach Educational Excellence (Project FREE) received their doctorate and master’s degrees during the Project FREE Paglaum graduation rites at the University St. La Salle Coliseum in Bacolod City Dec. 12.
The scholar-grantees are part of Project FREE Batch 3; out of the 173 graduates, 21 received their doctorate in Philosophy in Educational Leadership, while 152 obtained their master’s in Guidance and Counseling, Education major in Natural Science, Mathematics, Reading, Language and Literature, Filipino, Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health, Social Studies, Special Education, Technology and Home Economics, and Early Childhood, the Capitol said Dec. 13.
Russel Gorre and Romelyn Carcueva were recognized for achieving Highest Academic Honors while Vladimir Katalbas earned High Academic Honors.
For special awards, the Best Dissertation went to Ike Dominic Jalwin, while Best Thesis was awarded to Gemmalyn Acsioma.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, as project grantor, congratulated the 173 scholars and said that this landmark initiative, in partnership with the USLS and the Department of Education (DepEd), reflects their shared commitment to uplifting the educational landscape of the province.
DepEd Undersecretary, Atty. Peter Irving Corvera, was the commencement speaker. He congratulated the scholars and lauded the provincial government for this unique program that supports public school teachers.
Br. Joaquin Severino Martinez, Dr. Annabelle Balor, Minnie Chua, Mark Christopher Duenas, Dr. Eric Arthur Dio, SDS Anthony Liobet, Dr. Barry John Belen, Dianne Debbie Salud, Br. Erwin Anthony Climaco, Mark Palo, Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon, and NOSPD head Karen Dinsay attended the graduation rites, together with the families and friends of the scholars. ||
