Dengue cases in Negros Occidental, including the highly-urbanized Bacolod City, further increased to 1,715, with seven deaths, as of March 22 this year.
The province logged 1,435 cases with six related deaths while the city reported 280 cases with one fatality, according to reports of the Provincial Health Office and the City Health Office, respectively.
All 31 towns of Negros Occidental have been affected as well as 10 of the 61 barangays of Bacolod City, the reports added.
Negros Occidental recorded an increase of 386.44 percent or 1,140 cases more compared to 295 in the same period last year.
Bacolod City logged an increase of 177.2 percent, from 101 cases in the same period last year.
Bago City still has the highest number of recorded dengue cases among the 31 component cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental at 285, while Barangay Estefania in Bacolod City has the most cases at 24. | GB
