Sixteen of the 17 barangays of Sipalay City in Negros Occidental have been declared drug-free, the local government announced on its FB page.

It added that during the 28th Regional Oversight Committee on Dangerous Drugs – Western Visayas deliberation on June 22, Barangay San Jose has been declared drug-free, and brought to 16 the total drug-cleared barangays of the city.

Aside from Barangay Nabulao, the drug-cleared barangays are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Cabadiangan, Camindangan, Canturay, Cartagena, Cayhagan, Gil Montilla, Mambaroto, Manlucahoc, Maricalum, Nauhang, and San Jose.

This has been accomplished through the active implementation of the Community Based Rehabilitation Program and the collective efforts of the provincial government of Negros Occidental and the local government unit of Sipalay, as well as the barangay councils and program partners.

The City continues to actively support programs against dangerous drugs to help Nabulao to also be declared drug-free, and Mayor Maria Gina Lizares said she is looking forward to the support of every Sipalaynon to help make Sipalay a safe, smart, and sustainable city.||
