The number of applicants in Negros Island Region (NIR) who registered to vote in the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) has increased to 155,823, latest data of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) showed.
As of March 14, the Comelec reported that in Negros Occidental, they received 105,641 applicants; Negros Oriental, 47,550; and Siquijor, 2,632.
Records also indicated that 946 individuals availed of the Register Anywhere Program across the region, of which 790 were recorded in Dumaguete City and 156 in Bacolod City.
Of the total applicants, 73,533 are male while 82,290 are female.
The voter registration is until May 18 as the BSKE is slated on Nov. 2 this year.
The filing of certificates of candidacy will be held from Sept. 28 to Oct. 21. | GB
