The Himamaylan City government said it has inoculated 15,478 residents, or 19.81 percent of the target population, against the coronavirus disease, with 11,642 or 14.9 percent fully vaccinated.

Mayor Raymund Tongson said the local government is employing a lot of vaccination strategies to increase the output after it received feedback that the city needs to redouble its efforts in order to be at par with other component cities of Negros Occidental in the vaccine rollout.

He said the City Health Office and the vaccination team are in the process of improving the reporting system to the Provincial Health Office.

The vaccination of minors in Himamaylan City has also started and parents have been cooperative in allowing their children to receive the anti-COVID shots, Tongson said.

Some barangays have a masterlist of children 12 to 17 years old, while others registered through their schools.

Tongson brought 14 barangay captains of Himamaylan to the provincial Capitol in Bacolod City Nov. 4 to thank Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer for the barangay assistance extended by the province to the city. — MML
