144 Bacolod athletes to compete in Batang Pinoy 2025 in GenSan

A vibrant sendoff ceremony was held yesterday morning, Oct. 20, at the Bacolod Government Center grounds for the city’s delegation to the Batang Pinoy 2025 National Championships on Oct. 25–31 in General Santos City.

Led by Atty. Jose Marty Go, secretary to Mayor Greg Gasataya, the 144 young athletes and 22 coaches, who will represent Bacolod, were presented during the flag-raising ceremony.

The athletes will compete in aquatics/swimming, archery, athletics, basketball, boxing, chess, cycling, futsal (boys and girls), gymnastics, muay thai, taekwondo, beach volleyball, and wushu, the city said in a press release.

Gasataya vowed his strong support to the athletes as he urged them to compete with sportsmanship and pride against players from other local government units in this annual multi-sports event organized by the Philippine Sports Commission.

He also announced the City of Bacolod’s official bid to host the national youth sporting event in 2026. “We are hopeful that Bacolod will host Batang Pinoy 2026.” ||
