The Philippine National Police reported on May 27 that 14 police personnel and a non-uniformed personnel assigned at the Himamaylan City Police Station in Negros Occidental tested positive for COVID-19.
P/Lt. Col. Romeo Vargas, police chief of the Himamaylan CPS, 13 of his personnel and an NUP are now on a 14-day quarantine, and some of them are symptomatic, the PNP said.

Ten persons deprived of liberty, who were detained at the Himamaylan police custodial facility for various offenses, also tested positive for COVID-19, the police added.
P/Lt. Abegael Donasco, spokesperson of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, said there were 27 active infections, out of 133 confirmed COVID cases.
The PNP Health Service also reported 233 new cases and 70 recoveries among police personnel all over the country, as of May 27. — GB
