The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Oriental distributed land titles to thousands of agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in July.
DAR-Negros Oriental provincial agrarian reform program officer Manuel Galon told the Philippine News Agency that it was the first distribution phase of its target 5,000 beneficiaries for 2025.
Galon said 2,600 Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOAs) were distributed to 1,382 ARBs in Bago City, Negros Occidental, with a total 1,960 hectares covered.
He explained that many ARBs received more than one title because the DAR issues titles per lot covered by the land reform program.
The ARBs who received their CLOAs last month were from Canlaon City, Vallehermoso, Manjuyod, Bais City, Mabinay, Tanjay City, Pamplona, Bayawan, Sta. Catalina, and Siaton.
Only 500 beneficiaries were brought to Bago City to receive their land titles, while others were just represented due to transportation and other constraints.
In addition to those that were already distributed, DAR-Negros Oriental is also awaiting the release of some 2,000 titles that are pending with the Registry of Deeds, Galon said. ||
