1,256 dengue cases logged in Negros Occ.

Dengue cases continue to soar in Negros Occidental, with the Provincial Health Office (PHO) recording 1,256 cases from Jan. 1 to March 8 this year, higher by 412 percent compared to the same period last year.

However, fatalities remained at six, according to the PHO report.

A total of 105 new cases were added in just a week.

The highly-urbanized Bacolod City recorded 199 dengue cases, with one fatality, from Jan. 1 to March 1 this year.

The data showed an increase of 161.8 percent from last year’s 76 cases.

Bago City continues to top the list with the most number of dengue cases in the province at 254 cases, with 22 additional cases recorded, the PHO report further indicated. | GB
