A total of 1,200 Victoriasanon rice farmers each received P7,000 in financial aid, through cash cards, during the recent orientation and distribution of the Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RFFA) 2024 at the Barangay V covered court.
The financial assistance was given to rice farmers enrolled in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) as part of the government’s initiative to support the agricultural sector, the city said Feb. 18.
The orientation emphasized the crucial role of rice farmers in ensuring food security, while also addressing their needs to enhance productivity and profitability.
Through the RFFA, beneficiaries gain access to much-needed financial support to buy essential farm inputs, helping sustain and improve their livelihoods.
Councilor Deilen Hofileña, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries, and Aquatic Resources gave the welcome remarks during the event, and recognized the dedication and perseverance of the local farming community.
The Victorias City Agriculture Office, led by city agriculture officer Leni Lacuesta, spearheaded the activity that was also attended by councilors Warlito Undar and Joji Larraga.
The event concluded with a call for collective effort towards a more resilient, prosperous, and sustainable rice farming sector, as the city government reaffirmed its commitment to uplifting local farmers and strengthening the agricultural sector for a more food-secure future.
Meanwhile, the city government also facilitated a validation and verification event for the second batch of unclaimed Unconditional Cash Transfer cash cards, under the Listahanan and Social Pension (SocPen) programs, at Barangay XIII covered court recently.
Ninety eligible beneficiaries participated in the activity, ensuring that they could rightfully claim their financial assistance from the Land Bank of the Philippines.
The event was organized by the City Social Welfare and Development Office, led by Joy Reunir, in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI and the National Household Targeting Section.
City roving bookkeeper Julie Ann Ramos and program development officer II Gemma Artates helped in the smooth conduct of the validation and verification, to ensure that government assistance reaches its intended beneficiaries, reinforcing Victorias’ commitment to social welfare and inclusive development. ||
