120 Abanse Trabahante beneficiaries get wages

The provincial government of Negros Occidental, through the Public Employment Service Office, released P1,142,400 as payment to 120 Abanse Trabahante beneficiaries from 20 towns and cities of the province.

Each beneficiary received P9,600 during the payout held in a mall in Bacolod City Dec. 2. They include tech-voc graduates, indigenous peoples, persons with disability, displaced or disadvantaged individuals from the cities of Bago, Escalante, Kabankalan, La Carlota, San Carlos, Sipalay, Talisay, and Victorias as well as from the towns of Cauayan, Don Salvador Benedicto, Hinigaran, Ilog, Isabela, Hinoba-an, San Enrique, Toboso, Valladolid, Binalbagan, Candoni, and Pontevedra.

They worked for 20 days in their respective LGUs, the Capitol said in a press release Dec. 3.

The beneficiaries were also oriented on Workplace Safe Spaces and Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act, with P/Capt. Wilma Silva and Dawn Marie Castro as speaker and lecturer.

Department of Labor and Employment Negros Occidental head, Carmela Abellar, lauded the efforts of the provincial government in conducting the activity, especially in providing temporary employment to the beneficiaries.

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, in his speech, said that he will continue the Abanse Trabahante program as a component of the employment support strategies for Negrenses because this provides temporary employment to the marginalized sector, the Capitol said. ||
