The Central Negros Electric Cooperative and National Grid Corporation of the Philippines have scheduled 12-hour power interruptions in Bacolod City on July 6 and 7.

Ceneco acting general manager, Atty. Arnel Lapore, said the outage on Saturday, starting at 6 a.m., will affect the Asdes-Gonzaga feeders 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Maintenance activities will be conducted on July 6 to ensure the stability of distribution lines and avoid further serious damage that could result in major interruptions, Lapore said in an advisory.

These maintenance activities include an integrity testing of Ceneco’s 30MVA Asdes-Gonzaga substation and related accessories; correction of hotspot, testing and metering maintenance of feeder metering; replacement of rotten primary poles; and tree-clearing, he added.

The NGCP, meanwhile, will shut down its Bacolod-Bata 69kV sub-transmission line (STL) on July 7, and this will affect Ceneco’s Mt. View and Burgos substations.

NGCP will implement the GARRP for the Bacolod-Bata 69kV transmission line, relay resetting and hotspot correction; preventive maintenance and integrity testing of the 10MVA and 20MVA Mt. View substation and related accessories; correct hotspot, testing, and metering maintenance of feeder metering; replace rotten primary poles; and conduct tree clearing activities.

The 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. outage will affect the Mt. View Feeder, while residents under the Burgos substation will experience power interruption from 6 a.m. to 12 noon, the NGCP advisory said.

Electricity consumers are advised that, in case of any power interruption, electrical switch/es should be turned off for safety reasons, Lapore said. “When electricity supply resumes, wait for 10-15 minutes before switching on all electrical appliances and facilities to avoid power surge.” | CGC
