1,140 San Carlos pupils receive tablets from LGU

Around 1,140 grades 3, 4, and 5 pupils from 38 public elementary schools in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, received learning tablets from the local government at the city auditorium recently.

Mayor Renato Gustilo, together with SCC OIC-Schools Division superintendent Dennis Develos, assistant SDS Heidelyn Geromiano, and other DepEd officials led the distribution of tablets to pupils.

The beneficiaries include pupils from Andres Bonifacio Central School, Bagonbon Elementary School (ES), Binone ES, Cabagtasan ES, Camaniangan ES, Codcod ES, Cong. Vicente Gustilo Sr. Memorial School, Don Juan Ledesma ES, Ermita ES, Florentina Ledesma ES, Greenville ES, Guadalupe Integrated School, Habuyo ES, Katiclan ES, Katingal-an ES, Lagha ES, Lagha ES-Extension;

Mag-amihan ES, Maglunod ES, Malindog ES, Marago-os ES, Medina Integrated School, Nabataan ES, Nataban Integrated School, Pano-olan ES, Pinamantawan ES, Prosperidad ES, Punod ES, Quezon ES, Ramon Magsaysay ES, Rizal ES, San Carlos Milling Co. Inc. ES, San Jose ES, San Juan ES, School of the Future, Tal-ot ES, Tandang Sora ES, and Trozo ES.

With a P20 million allocation, this initiative equips learners with essential digital tools in a bid to help bridge learning gaps, improve access to resources, and enhance tech skills to boost their academic performance and digital engagement, the city said.

Develos shared that Gustilo has committed an additional P20 million for tablets in 2025, to extend the program to grade 1 and 6 pupils to ensure continued educational support.

He thanked the mayor and the LGU-San Carlos for the continuous support and commitment to improving education and providing valuable resources for learners.

Gustilo mentioned that over 200 educators will also benefit from the P10 million allocation for laptops, to ensure that they have the tools needed to deliver high-quality education.

He reminded the students and parents to take care of their devices, and use those solely for educational purposes.

Aurora Alagar said that the tablet would be very helpful to her nephew, Xian Bryle Ruel, a Grade 5 student at Andres Bonifacio Central School, for him to access online learning resources and make assignments easier. ||
