One-hundred and eleven illegal open pipes of motorcycle mufflers were destroyed today, Oct. 22, at the Silay City public plaza by virtue of City Ordinance No. 2, series of 2012.

The ordinance bans noisy motorcycle mufflers.

Mayor Mark Golez and Silay City Police chief, P/Lt. Col. Robert Petate, led the ceremonial destruction of the items.

Golez said this is to show that the local government is serious in its campaign against motorcycles with noisy exhaust pipes.

The destruction of illegal open pipes of motorcycle mufflers has been a continuing activity of the city and the police since last year.

City councilors and barangay officials also witnessed the activity this morning. — MML
